    Promoting Arts & Culture

Our Mission

Legros Cultural Arts, Inc is a not for profit organization with a mission to inspire and inform people of all ages and ethnicities about the advantages cultural diversity in the context of mutual understanding and cooperation.  Through producing community events that involves dance, drama, music and or visual arts, spectators are motivated to confront and overcome the prejudice, misunderstanding and or fear that may stem from lack of familiarity with the many highly visible cultures in New York City.

History

Legros Cultural Arts, Inc. (LCA), founder Chantal Legros formed Legros Creative Arts Academy (LCAA), in Miami, Florida, under the umbrella of the Haitian Organization of Women in 1989. LCAA, then a dance studio dedicated to promoting multi-culturalism through dance, for ages five to adulthood; established their independence 1993. LCAA went on to launch Danzare Internationale a touring dance company.  Before long, LCAA and Danzare Int’l extended its community outreach to include contractual relationships with Metro Dade County schools, the Community Crusade Against Drugs and Mal-Jonal Productions, providing dance performances for over 30,000 students. In 1998, LCAA relocated to Queens, New York to revise their outreach approach. Today, the studio has been transformed into a cultural arts program that creates and develops cultural arts programs, activities and projects that educates our youth and communities of the various cultures that exisit within New York City.
