Chantal Legros has developed and produced
multicultural events throughout Miami, Florida and Queens,
New York for over fifteen years. The first generation Haitian-American credits
the success of her productions to a grassroots platform that promotes cultural understanding beginning with early childhood
learning. During her residence in Miami, Legros’ dance
education background (African, Jazz, Modern and Haitian Folklore) segued into instructing classes of various educational
levels. While instructing, she received many invitations to speak and facilitate various engagements around the topic of the
cultural arts and youth development.
The former Miami Dade Community College, Adjunct Professor
of Caribbean Dance/History, established a relationship with various communities throughout Miami where she developed dance
programs for various schools within Dade County. Legros continued to teach dance, drama and musical theater while building
her dance studio, Legros Creative
Arts Academy. She has taught
performing arts curriculums at the African Heritage
Cultural Arts Center,
Centerville Pre-School, Clown Around Pre-School,
Dance Unlimited, Jamaica Arts Center, the Rochdale Community Center and a Facilitator for the Dade Association of Dance Educators.
Her
guest speaking engagements include, The Association of Haitian Educators Scholarship Gala, Caribbean Images Awards Gala, Cornell
Cooperative Extension, Democratic Women’s Club of Dade County Annual Banquet, Florida Association of Health Physical
Education State Conference – African Dance Workshop, Florida International University Spring Culture Festival, Haitian
Bilingual Career Fair, Miami Heights Elementary Career and Multicultural Day, Roots and Culture Festival and the Youth Rising
with Understanding Through Multicultural Education Conference.
Ms. Legros holds a Certificate
in Arts Management, Bachelors Degree in Film Production, and a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership.
