Legros Cultural Arts Board Member
Job Description
AUTHORITY/RESPONSIBILITY:
As a member of the Legros Cultural Arts, Inc. Board, A Board Member
acts in a position of trust and is responsible for the effective governance of the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
Knowledge and skills in one or more areas: board governance, policy,
finance, performing arts, program development, grant writing, donor development and/or personnel.
TERM:
Board Members are elected by the membership at the general meeting which
takes place bi-yearly. Board Members serve for a two-year term and may be re-elected for two additional terms.
FINANCIAL OBLIGATION:
Board Members have a yearly financial obligation of $650.00
REQUIREMENTS:
- Commitment to the mission of Legros Cultural
Arts, Inc;
- Knowledge and skills in one or more areas
of Board governance: policy, finance, programs, and/or personnel;
- Willingness to serve on at least one committee
and actively participate;
- Physical attendance at Board meetings twice
per year;
- A reasonable time commitment, (includes Board
meeting preparation, attending major events and committee meeting time)
- Be knowledgeable of the services provided
by Legros Cultural Arts, Inc. and publicly support them;
- Prepare for and participate in the discussions
and the deliberations of the LCA Board;
- Be aware and abstain from any conflict of
interest.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Governing by the Legros Cultural Arts, Inc
By-laws;
- Establish overall long and short term goals,
objectives and priorities for Legros Cultural Arts, Inc. in meeting the needs of the communities and youth we serve;
- Recommend policies to the Board (on an as
needed basis)
- Promote annual donor membership through community
networking, etc.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of
Legros Cultural Arts, Inc. through a regular review of programs and services;
- Being active in seeking nominations for election
for the LCA Board when appropriate;
- Prepare for and participate in the discussions
and the deliberations of the LCA Board
- To foster a positive working relationship
with other Board members, Board Advisor, Executive Director, LCA Staff and Volunteers.
